It is an original #990 system I purchased new many ,many years ago when TMCC was first released. Worked somewhat flawlessly until today. Batteries are new. Shows full charge on screen WHEN I can see it. Remote is flashing on and off. Will not turn off unless I remove batteries. I have monitored this forum for many years and the knowledge is limitless. Thanks in advance for all of you.

I think Lionel is honoring the warranty on the Legacy 990 system regardless of age. I would call them for an RA to repair. There have been reports of the repair taking weeks however.
Must be a cab2 if it's a 990. Send it in for charging upgrade on the base too.

lots of us here have sent in our legacy system, no problem!
I'm sending in one on Monday, went totally dead out of the blue! I was using it, and 30 minutes later it wouldn't power up. Yep, new batteries, etc. it's just dead! 
A big thanks to everyone that offered help. Will contact Lionel on Monday.
Guys. Got my RA today,took about 24 hrs by email after speaking with them on Monday. Did you send your power supply with the remote and charger?

No. Of course if the base lights up at all, then the PS is ok. Otherwise, send it along I guess.

I would definitely send it back if it was a signal issue. From what you have described the issue seems to be with the CAB2 so I don't think it's required.
