My Santa Fe LEGACY Scale Dash 9-44CW Diesel #623 6-39566 will run about 2' and stop and cap light starts blinking on and off continuously. I hit the R (reset) on legacy controller and the horn blows and light stops blinking and will go 2' again in either direction and stop and light starts blinking again.Motors run freely

It's an error code listed in the back of the manual. How many blinks in each group of blinks?

I read the codes in the back of the manual. Smoke is turned off. There dosent seem to be any groups, just blinking on-off at the same rate.
If its blinking on and off. Its main drive motor stall. You either have a bad motor or wiring problem check your pick-ups rollers for continuity and check make sure wires not touching motor cause a short.
Could also be a physical issue. Binding in the drive chain.
I took the cab off and the flywheels are free and turn the drive wheels freely. I still have to check the pickups.

Actually, I believe this may be an encoder issue. The fast that the motors turn freely and it moves several feet sounds like the issue I had with a bad encoder or a bad RCMC board.
