Yesterday I decided to make a temporary cradle for my camera to take a video of my upper line.  I used a K-Line metal gondola as it was fairly heavy and tracked well.  I pushed it ahead of my Legacy Milwaukee F-7 since I was filming my Milwaukee Road NW Iowa branch line.

I noticed quite a bit of room for improvement, but it felt good to make a video again.  Hope you enjoy.

Spence - The overall dimensions are about 65 by 20.

Frank - That was my first attempt at painting on the walls other than bulk painting the blue sky.  I found a favorite picture of the skyline, had a slide made of it, and projected the right size on the wall.  Then I traced the outlines of the major buildings on the wall and then painted in the outlines.

Alex - Thank you very much.  The basement is irregular and is about 85 feet long and varies between 20 and 35 feet wide.  The straight track is due to my son's help laying it with a laser and not wanting to just settle for "good enough."

I wish you lived closer too as I would love to see your beautiful layout in person and be able to have you help me with some of my future buildings.

Thanks, Jon.  I got that picture of Uncle Scrooge quite awhile ago.  My son and I are both big Disney and Uncle Scrooge fans.  His money bin was one of his coolest themes and this one had a railroad of sorts that carried the money out of the "mine."  I like it in the train room, but it isn't the best background for cab ride videos.

Isn't it funny how you notice things that need to be fixed or changed in a picture or video that you see all the time but don't really notice?  When I watched the video I saw a lot of missing ties yet that I haven't inserted.  I thought I had them all, but see some in the freight yard and on the upper line.

Art, what a super layout and your cab ride video was great.  I like your track plan and having a reverse loop for your upper level with option to switch down to lower level.  Quite clever in my opinion.  In the beginning of your video it showed a quonset hut on the left side of the track.  Where did you get it from?  Thanks for posting, you are doing a nice job.

Steve - The Quonset hut is Lionel's.  I had looked for it for a long time and finally found it at one of our monthly DuPage shows.  I wish they would make that again.

Thanks Art.  I haven't seen many of those around and could not find any myself.  I had to go with another source for my new Army base.  It sure looks good on your layout, as does everything else.

drodder - I took the video with my about 5 year old Sony Cyber-Shot digital camera.  It's is getting a little dated, but still takes decent pictures.  The limiting factor is the guy taking the pictures.

Thanks for the comments on the interchange track.  My biggest challenge was limiting the grade on my two interchange tracks to 2%.  IN fact the other interchange is 2 1/2%, but close enough.  That enables me to run any train that I run up or down either interchange track and enhances the operational elements.  I am in the process of adding sidings and industries so we can have more realistic operating sessions involving setting out cars at businesses and working them back into first a regional yard and ultimately back to Proviso.

The second interchange track enters my passenger dominated mainline with traffic flowing the opposite direction as the freight mainline.  That in conjunction with my series of crossovers allows me to bring trains up or down in either direction to either lower mainline.
