Pinterest is a convenient platform for saving pictures from the web for modeling ideas.  Unfortunately neither of the methods for saving pins on an iPad works in the OGR forum.  Hoop.la provides a Pinterest button, but it only offers to save the first picture on a page.  I got the same result on a PC using Chrome, a Mac using Safari, and an iPad using Safari.  Pinterest's Chrome browser extension does work.

The other option for my iPad is to use the Pinterest button in the iPad Share feature.  This only offers to save blank pictures.  The only working option for the iPad is to save a picture then upload it to Pinterest.  Not very convenient.

Could the Hoop.la folks address this?

Thanks

The answer from Hoopla:

Good morning Rich,

Currently Hoop.la's built in social sharing option selects either the title image (if the content type supports that), or the first attachment with a image thumbnail. That is the image that we expose to Pinterests share feature.

In order to build in what the customer wants, we would need to include a separate share button for Pinterest for each and every attachment on a topic, but this does not scale. It is further complicated if you think about someone wanting to pin an attachment from a reply, or the reply itself. There are any number of things on a page that a member may want to pin, and our tool is designed to try and give focus to the primary focus of that page, the content.

By exposing the title image/first attachment we give control to the author on what they feel is the best representation of their content. For users like the one on your site, they will need to rely on things like browser extensions or other tools for choosing elements from a page to pin on Pinterest if that does not meet their needs.

Cheers,

Jonmark
