What is the current status of this locomotive, what with Hunter Harrison in the saddle at CP?

Not running, he is a cost cutting guy and steam= liability and expense CP doesn't need...according to him.
Only some 10 years ago there was talk of restoring the Selkirk/2-10-4 on display in Calgary. Nothing is forever.

Is that the only remaining Royal Hudson?

No, but 2816 is NOT a "Royal Hudson" anyway. The 2860, which is operational out in British Columbia is one of the "Royal Hudson" class.

We (a 80 yr. old friend & me) caught up with it years ago one morning while it was sitting in the old Milwaukee Road/ CP Bensenville, IL. Yard right off Green St. I asked the CP Police if we could pull in and take a look and she said ok. It was only us 2 and the steam crew working away at polishing & such. We parked and walked up to chat with the crew and a white Ford Excursion with CP vanity plates & dark tinted windows pulled up and stopped. They spoke with the CP Police and left. We were told to leave immediately or we'd be arrested..by the same person that said it was ok a few minutes earlier?? I commented why restore it when nobody can look at it? Also said something about when the U.P.'s Challenger comes into town everybody is welcome to look...Must be the difference between Americans & Canadians.
That's a shame Chuck...sounds like the ole' liability bug crept into the situation.
