What do you guys use to take an O-sized train to another layout or meet? I've got the Atlas Zephyr's and want to take them in a well-protected case.
Recommendations?
Thanks.

I use a foam lined case to take my PRR passenger set and e-8s.
The box was used for computers at one time.works well has nice handle and wheels.
it is like carry on but with hard sides.
hope this helps don't have pic.
The shipping cartons they came in?
I generally hire a group of Sherpas to carry mine for me...
Solutions range from a cardboard box with bubble wrap to a dedicated walnut case with conforming foam. It is sort of your choice - both of the above work great.
A few years ago, I bought a gun case at a Black Friday sale in Walmart. I took out the foam center and made partitions out of masonite. Held 11 pieces of trains.
Looking for a picture. Will post if I find one!
I also bought a large toolbox and it holds 6 items on the bottom, with foam strips to separate, then a board and 6 more on top, with more foam strips.
Think outside the "box"

I use large tool boxes lined with foam for engines. I wrap the engines and tender with electrostatic resistant wrapping.
For rolling stock I use wooden wine crates. Most I have acquired from my neighbor who is a real whino. They come with wooden dividers which for most of myr eefers are perfect. For larger passenger cars I simply knock out the dividers with a hammer and wrap each car with doggie training pads, 6 per pack, $0.99 per pack at our local 99 Cent store.
Not exactly a good year to be entrusting stuff to Sherpas Martin.
I use boxes made by Tom Douglas. He is a wood working specialist from The state of South Jersey. He made them in any configuration. Small engines, large engines, a dozen freight cars, etc, whatever.
The carry cases have a 1/2" carpet pad which automatically wraps top, sides and bottom as you set the item in/on it.
Also, just took delivery of a carry case designed to drive the engine directly out of the end of the box onto a track.
Any information re: Tom Douglas (South Jersey) would be appreciated. (contact, pricing, etc.)
Pete, Tom frequently shows up at the Strasburg show. Great guy, talanted craftsman.
Buzz or John Dunn should have his contact info.
