Dave, thanks for the up to date, on the Cass Scenic Railroad. I just past your post on to the "AMRS". The new changes in operation have been a subject of discussion for sometime at the club meetings.

Dave, if you happen to be in Huntington, Thanksgiving weekend, Please stop buy our train show at the Huntington Civic Center. If it's not too cold wear your "Green Cap", so I'll recognize you!.............................................Brandy

Sorry....but it looks like I may miss it this year.....first time in 13 years. A family event is planned that weekend.........

Our local paper the 'Pocahontas Times' had a story on some plans in the works for Cass and 2015.  The story is not on their website yet.....may not appear on it......but it was all good.

A few high points.

They are going to push to get the rail line restored between Cass and Durbin for sometime during the 2015 season. This has been talked about for years.....but now with both railroads under one roof......it may now get done. A trip up the Greenbrier from Cass to Dubin behind a Cass RR Shay will be great. I took the trip once as a kid during a excursion.

You will be able to ride from Cass to Spruce, get off the Cass RR train and get on a D&GV train to Elkins! Riding a Shay and open cars and then a train with a F unit, BL-2 or GP-9 and vintage heavyweight cars! Packages will be offered and they already have large tour groups signed up.

Lots of info and skill sharing will happen. Locomotive, car and track teams shared and marketing combined to create a 'Railroad vacation destination'.

As stated before the rail line between Elkins and Durbin is still being investigated.....but may be a ways off. Getting everything between the two railroads working well is job one.

Overall it was nothing but good news. I am sure there will be bumps on the track. But it seems we now have a large group working for one goal. It will be fun!!!

#6 at Spruce......
