Does anyone know anyone that could be hired to change road numbers (redoing the paint/decals) on an MTH locomotive? I want to change a road number but I don't know how to make things that look nice.

Yup, I was hoping someone to modify (this engine) from 6923 to 6915. MTH doesn't make a 6915 but it's the one on display in the museum near our club.
Sorry I can't help with diesel
Decals are still available. I would try Testors Easy Lift Off on the numbers first. It will usually lift the lettering before the base paint. Try it on the inside to see how resistant the base paint is. Then use overhead projector film and reverse print your new number board numbers.

My email address is in my profile. Shoot me an email and I will send you information for Christine Braden. She does excellent work.
I second the recommendation for Christine, I've been hearing and seeing good work from her. Here's her Facebook page, you can contact her through that.

Year her fb page looks amazing. I Just fired her an email. If it can be done,.. I'll be asking you about the ideas for the lighting next!
Lighting I can do, painting I suck at.

I am an engineer... so I can CAD schematics, IC or PCB layout, and mechanical drawings. I can send them to manufacturing houses. I can send emails, and I can open FedEx boxes when they arrive. That's my entire set of skills. Folks in the club get nervous when I pick up hand tools let alone a paint brush!
You can do it!
MTh uses multiple clear coats on its locomotive paint. this prevents items like scalecoat paint remover and EZ liftoff to work quickly. The only thing I found that works is Unglue by Smith industries. YOU MUST USE SMALL AMOUNTS on a Q-tip or micro brush and apply to the area for 15min until the numbers disapear. After that you must thoroughly clean the area to prevent any underlying paint from being taken off. Good Luck!
What is the email address of CJB Custom Painting? I don’t do Facebook at all.
