It is the wrong description on the LC universal controller.   According to Lionel it now controls all LC engines.  The old one only controlled most of them.  And had an exclusion list.

All of the older Universal remotes can be upgraded to control all engines. See this post.

Yep so on both accounts it is the wrong description.   The new remote comes with the 1.1 upgrade.  : )
