be honest Erik you really did mean 2 rail the only way to go. 3 rail is great but for the true look of realism 2 rail wins hands down. and we are not the only one's who feel that way as the Chicago meet floor was packed.
long live 2 rail!!!!!
Another layout that we attended on Friday was Ted's Fox Valley Model Railroad Club in Elgin. I didn't take any pictures this time, but he hosted a fabulous operating session as always. If you ever have a chance to visit this layout, don't miss it. You will not be sorry. They continue to add to this very large club layout and that includes track and scenery.

Fabulous pictures,Art,thank you so much. O Scale's alive & well!!
Thanks again,

I just love the viewing platform and stairs for visitors to see the TOT. I wouldn't have thought of that, but it makes a very cool vignette.

Guessing that is how 99.9 percent of those lucky enough to view it did so.
Wow that train GM and whole layout are stunning.
Tks for the pics
The switching layout was one of the best on the tour this year. The CGW caboose had an Atlas SW switcher to run with. There was an 0-6-0 plus a fleet of the SW switchers in multiple road names, and a C&NW RS-1, operating on the layout the night I was there. It is a really nice layout.
The two from today

Thanks for answering that question. I know that Don has a number of Atlas switchers in several Midwestern road names with matching cabooses. He has very well designed and planned operating sessions utilizing these different road names. I remember C&NW, Milwaukee, Rock Island, and C&GW and there may be more. He likes to use his fast clock too and runs his passenger train during operating session at a specified time and it has priority over all freight operations. Great operating sessions!

Hey Guys,
I'm adding additional pictures of the show over on the 2-rail forum. They're from last year, as I didn't take too many photos this year. And I still haven't made it to the Rockford layouts. The timing is bad for flying out Sunday afternoon.

Thank you Art for visiting Rockford and posting the pictures. Glad you enjoyed your visit. While having a open house takes some work, it is a great way to get motivated and it is an enjoyable event for the host too. More work was done on the layout in the last two weeks than the previous two months.
