I see videos and photos of your wheels after cleaning, and they look shiny and bright: much better than when I clean them. What's your secret? I use a wire wheel in a Dremel, but they tend to look a little dark, not at all shiny.

I use the brite boy track cleaner that looks like an eraser. They leave the wheels nice and shiny.
Thank you! That did the trick!

Has anyone ever tried a Q-tip dipped in Tarn-X to clean them. I have used that to clean the copper pick up strip riding on the axles...

I used Goo-Gone on a Q-Tip to clean the wheels on a recently completed project. It got most of the gook off, so I still dressed the wheels with the wire brush in my Dremel.

Yes (or mineral spirits, too). It may not leave the wheels shiny, but it will take off all gook, oil, and grease. And not harm any plastic.
I use a Qtip with Acetone and a Dremel with wire wheel, works great.

I've been using Goo-Gone for 30+ years and have had no issues with either Scale, Hirail or Flyer equipment or track.
Notice Goo-Gone comes in a plastic bottle?
