I have seen some 6465 Sunoco post war tank cars that were stripped of their paint and the tank body looks fairly clear. I don't remember seeing any boxcars or cabooses that were made out of clear plastic.
Does anyone know of a MTH, Lionel, Kline, etc boxcar or caboose that would be fairly translucent plastic after the paint is removed?
I have a 4454 Baby Ruth boxcar that was cast in clear plastic. I did my best to strip the paint, including a few sessions in an ultrasonic cleaner. I can still find a bit of paint here and there, but it looks pretty good.
I've seen other cars. A fellow had a whole train of clear plastic freight cars at a local show awhile back.
I also have seen a few whistle chambers molded in clear plastic.
