I was looking at the current issue of Model Railroader and saw the O layout series article which shows a very nice mechanical conveyor cola loader but it isn't ID'd in the article.
I want to get such a model but all I can find are toy-like. Anyone have a source for that model or a good one like it?

Lee, do you have a pic of it. Is it a portable conveyor??? Somewhere I had a website that had the kind that could be moved under a hopper car to unload the car. I was going to get one but who made it is gone from my desktop.......Paul 2
Sorry Paul, I should have done that at first. Yep, it's a portable loader. I really want one for my Army RR unit area as I currently have no way for the soldiers to load coal into the trench engine other than by the handful (my ET&WNC ten wheelers were in real life coaled up in Johnson City, TN, far off the layout)
I really love the look of this loader! A google search turned up nothing like it.

I didn't think I'd find anything either. I got all the same postwar Lionel stuff. Then I added "portable" into the description and viola!! LOL!
Model Tech Studios also has a coal conveyor. I have one of each. I think the Model Tech Studios was easier to build (laser cut plus resin kit vs laser kit plus metal for the Crow River Products) but I like the big wheels of the Crow River Products. I also botched up the paint job on the Crow River Products one but you can't blame them for that.
I published a review of the Crow River kit back in 2017 for OST - not a bad kit nor difficult to assemble, and yes, those wheels are nice!
