Just a few points based on my experience.

1 Early Restoration colors on the blue comet were not 'true' matches. I bought several of these sets over the years looking at them in person. Got them at low prices and re-did them. Originals only faded if left in sunlit situations. know what and from who you are buying them. A 4-car repo set made by MTH, brand new for about $350 are a great alternative. I use them under my tree every year headed up by a pre-war Lionel 226. Awesome!

2 It is not just prewar. Catalog colors can fool as well, along with your eyes. I bought a recent PS3 ABA NYC new thinking I was getting the usual NYC grey.Looked grey to me in book but Turns out it came 'black' the freight colors!!! Looked back in catalog and it was truly questionable. Seller worked with me on price as we never discussed color but it was a big disappointment and lots of money. Still have it on the shelf.

Have fun!
