Your best best is to contact the New Haven Railroad historical society. They provided me with the correct color sample for the Phase II 3rd Rail FL9 when that was produced. New Haven used a combination of oranges, reds and orange reds during the 50's and 60's and the historical society likely has a color that is a match.
All I can tell you is that the first 30 FL9s were a different orange from the second 30 FL9s so shades and colors will vary!
I researched this Web.-Site, because I got into the 'NH' Halloween color schemed box cars and the one company which came closest to most of the true detailing, color schemes and markings is Atlas 'O'!!!!!!!!!!
Of the 'NH' box cars, Atlas 'O,' at the time, had the best and closest to the 'Real-Deal' box cars, than all of the other model train manufactures!!!! Ralph
