When did UP change the color of it's cabooses from dark red to yellow. I am thinking of detailing a Lionel 1990 collectors Denver and Rio Grande wood sided caboose to UP and wondered if all the wood sided cabooses were dark red then changed to yellow on the steel sided cabooses. Detailing will include paint scheme, adding LED lights all around and other details. Plenty of pics of red wood sided cabooses on the net.

For what it's worth, it depends on what era you are trying to model, as to what color the caboose should be, as well as the numbers on the sides of the caboose (four digit or 5 digit). Also, MTH offers an EXCELLENT scale version of the wood UP CA-1 caboose, and has been available in both the dark red/brown color as well as yellow.
I like the M & M caboose.
