The Colorado O Scale Modelers had a great meeting Thursday night!

Jeff opened up his private Boulder home layout for a tour for the group and we finalized plans for a new sectional layout. One member has a 20' trailer for storage and transport of the new layout. As we move along and we build a prototype this spring I will share them with you guys.

Jeff's High Plains Route is an amazing layout and a lot of fun; thanks Jeff I know your out there. ;-)imageimageimageimage

We have an amazing group of talent. Retired engineers, JPL rocket scientist, medical doctors, and artists. O scale has such a following; we need to keep the hobby alive and promote it where we live! Show it off guys and gals and let the young participate with the hobby.

Jeff, put together some really cool trains including this Chicago & Northwestern "Challenger" a train that ran between Chicago and L.A. This version would have run to Omaha on the Iowa side of the network.

The Colorado O Scale Modelers encourages anyone in our region to feel free to contact us about joining in or if you wish to add our layout as an exhibit. We are open to anyone that wishes to participate in O scale 2 rail modeling and operation. We also accurately model and represent Colorado and the Front Range historic railroading in 1/48 scale. We want help educate the young and old alike to classic American railroading in the west.

Hi Eric,
This is great news about your club's new sectional layout plans.  This will help bring 2-Rail O Scale to the masses and, of course, provide a new medium for more of those great train piks and vids .  Thanks for keeping us posted on this project.

And of course, Jeff's High Plains Route home layout is phenominal!

Butch, I am not positive as to the origins of these pieces. Maybe Jeff can elaborate? I know the large unpainted structure is an OMI Ajin import.

Very impressive on all points Erik.  Can you find out of the water tower next to the 350T coal tower is scratched or if someone offered this for sale at one time?  I have the coal tower and thought I would have to scratch the water. Very impressive layout with some of my favorite equipment.

The more we add content out here online I feel the more younger guys will come on along with us!

I couldn't agree more.  Seeing is such a huge thing...especially with such fine modeling.  I think if more keeps getting put out there and more information is shared dispelling some of the "myths" of 2 rail then more will be willing to pursue it...

Thanks again for sharing the images.

The photo with the green convertible reminds me so much of how I remember North part of Denver from years ago - before Coors field and all of the other redevelopment. El Chapultapec, before it became a 30 something hotspot, where a guy tripped over a few winos to get there in the hopes that Sinatra or Bennett would make an unscheduled appearance.

Isn't that part of the goal of this wonderful modeling - to bring out an emotional response?
