As some of you have heard, yes the rumor is true - I am working back on some O Scale projects and a new O layout. There are probably some photos out there on the web, but I didn't see any. , so I thought I would share this photo for some that are wondering. This is from an MTH GP7 that I am converting to 2 rail

Comparing the hi-rail wheels coming out and the scale wheels going in. These are some great locomotives from MTH, but getting exactly what I want is going to be a lot of kit bashing, fabrication and painting.

Although I couldn't find any swap out parts at MTH for a 2 rail pilot swap, so as always I do it the hard way (if you know something I don't, let me (us) know). This is the reconstructed pilot assembly I am working on the the geep. I am using a spacer that I cut on the laser. It's not exact, but it does the job and doesn't look too hateful for what it is. I did see some 3d printed items that were on Shapeways, but nothing specific for this model.

Joey,

You did not mention what loco you are working on.    The pilot looks a little like a GP9.    If that is what it is, it might be easier to buy an old Red Caboose kit somewhere, or "bag-o-kit" from Des Plaines as a start.    That way you don't have to remove too many details hopefully, just add the ones you want.    P&D makes a nice repower kit for the powered units or the unpowered bag-kits.

Yes, P&D makes a lot parts that you could use - there's a lot of other parts from Precision Scale available that will let you avoid re-inventing the wheel too much.
