Are these follow the only necessary components I need for a MTH conversion.
AC / DC Commander Kit - DC Motor version, R4LC-C08 Cost $89.95.
ERR Diesel RailSounds GP7/9 series Cost $89.95.
Any other suggestion would be appreciated.

Early models often had 12 volt lights. When moving to a command system 18 volt lights are added. If the MTH model did not have electro-coupler, you may want to add couplers. Note the speaker should be 8 ohm 1 watt or less. I could be wrong and often 
I would get the Cruise Commander instead of the DC Commander. The little bit extra cost is worth it for the speed control.
I'm with Lou, Cruise Commander all the way. I don't even keep stock of the DC Commander, I just stock the Cruise Commander and the AC Commander.
