I am having trouble with some new connector pins I just purchased for my Glenn Synder shelves. The newer pins seem to be of a cheaper material then my older ones. They are splitting as I try to connect them between shelves. They almost seem to tightly set and just split and pop off. Is there any advice for me on using these newer pins? Thanks for your help on this.

I finally learned to use the smallest mending plates to connect rails at the joints, drilled and held with tiny stove bolts. They lay flat in the outer channel and cause no interference.
Yea been there done that. I seem to remember opening up the pin with a small punch or anything like that. When I got tired of doing that went to Ace Hardware store and bought bigger roll pins. Worked much better.
