I recently made a phone call to MTH about parts that I need.  After I reached the parts department, I was greeted by Midge.  Only it wasn't her it was her voice mail.  She gives her email address, after a short greeting.  So an email was sent to her, only to receive a message that the email address does not exist.

I didn't want to try another call so I went on MTH's site.  After some searching I found a form for contacting them.  Here was their reply.  Does it make any sense to you ?

Did you leave a voice mail message for her?  I ask because the one and only time I called her I left a voice mail message for her and she called me back about a week later explaining that she'd had a family emergency necessitating her absence from work and this was her first day back.

I did.

I did a bunch of coupler changes on Amfleet coaches recently. I ordered the parts right off the website. If you go to the parts diagrams they are listed there...

The part number for a coupler repair kit is...   part number DD-0000073

here is a direct link to the part...    https://mthtrains.com/parts-search/DD-0000073

Thanks Tom.  The description is somewhat confusing to me.  The bold type in MTH's description is the confusing part.

(Older Premier Amfleet car only - sample 20-6519) ( 44.6mm long coupler ) ( t-bar mounting ) ( pin for armature is 27.7mm out from end ) ( 38.3mm long armature )( thumb tack is 22.9mm out from end ) ( IG-0000001 T-bar) (IF-0000002 e-clip) (IE-0000074 spring (ID-0000124 (black spacer)
(Does not include centering spring or screws) (We no longer have the original coupler & armature in stock for the older Premier Amfleet Cars) (Jeff had coupler assembly made) (The coupler and armature in this kit are not the same as the originals) (Coupler and armature in this kit will not fit the original coupler and arnature)

Roadname:

Product Item Number:

DD-0000073

The link to the actual kit shows the kit twice, but you want the first one. They come with new couplers, armatures, t bars, springs ect.

The kits come with new couplers and armatures. You discard the original old ones.

The new armatures are stamped steel instead of the die cast ones that are faulty.

the rest of the parts you use from the original couplers. I just did eight assemblies on the old Amfleet cars and the kits were perfect.
