Here is something that walked into the local hobby shop recently, and, as has been happening way too often lately, rolled out with me.

It's a boxcar that was part of a train of floor toys by the Corcoran Mfg. Co. of Indiana. In researching it, I found that they made an engine and passenger cars in the same line, as well as other freight cars, and many other toy vehicles.

They were advertised as "ride-on" toys for small kids. Hopefully, the rubber wheels held up better back then before they turned hard and brittle as on this car.

It's shown with a Lionel Standard Gauge #38 electric loco for size comparison. It measures roughly 17" long, 5" wide, and 7-1/2" tall.

The layout had to be downsized to about half what it was, but fortunately (?) there are still plenty of nooks and crannies around the basement to display all sorts of things. This one will need a pretty large nook.

The trucks do swivel. Looking at other photos, it seems that the engine is more heavy-duty in construction than the cars.

Probably, the kid would sit on the engine and just pull the cars behind him. I can't imagine that it was intended that he pull other kids on the cars.
