coupler actavites on its own

I have a premier gen set where the back coupler opens up all on its own even without a load on it could the coupler be bad? I have the shell off now and can not find anw bare wires , any sugestions?

John HOGR Forum Member SUPPORTING MEMBERDIGITAL SUBSCRIBER

I had one on a Premier GP38-2 do the same thing. It would short out internally and fire. I just replaced it.
