Hey guys, I have the pictured coupler of my little Rock Island 0-4-0 steam switcher and I would like to change it over to a magnetic type coupler (if I can...).

I have spent hours looking for information or a part number with no luck. Lionel does not have any info on their "new" site concerning this little loco.

Thanks,

Ted

Hi 027Ted, I don't if this will help you or not. I have an 0-4-0 8516 Switcher with magnetic couplers, here are the part numbers for its couplers. I got the diagram off of the Lionel support sight.  2321-164 pivot plunger,8030-120 coupler head,671m-23 washer, 1615-93 spring,8250-35 washer,2321-156 coupler armature,671m-22 retaining ring. Here's something to think about, I just had to repair couplers on one of my diesels. Instead of using the pivot plunger; I used a short bolt and the spring and a couple of washers, so far I think it will work. You can adjust the tension with the nut on the bottom, if the couple is to tight or to loose. Also the couplers do sag down anymore. Works good on the bench looks like it should work on the track, oh yeah can easily be return to factory as nothing has been damaged. I hope this works for you.
