Is there a group of modelers from anywhere & everywhere that model CSX&it's predessessor railroads?

The reason I'm interested is,that possibly we can band together & approach manufacturers, hobby stores, etc.,that do custom runs, with a united voice to get custom runs done faster instead of waiting for the entire market to want enough models produced to get it done. Plus we can discuss our wants, items of interest, etc, just general CSX Railroads.

Contact me here or at my email as listed on my profile.

Thank you,

Hi

I am modeling my layout after modern CSX.  I have a home layout the is about 14 ft by 32 ft with staging in another room.  I am not in any club or anything but love CSX models and I am always suggesting to Atlas to make more CSX stuff.  I requested they add CSX to the MP15 run but was told it was too late.  I would really like to see some more SD40s in CSX and for them to get the C40-8Ws out.  They are great CSX locos!  Would love to that loco in a standard can someday also!

Thanks

Don

Don,

I agree!! Must be a lot of these models that were bought up by non-CSX modelers for resale after the market is depleted at the manufacturer & hobby shops.

There is a GP60 in CSX on ebay, but the seller wants more than the original new release price! He wants $480 & he won't answer questions! You can buy it now or make an offer-I put $375 but was declined.

I am hoping Atlas will do 5161 cvd hoppers in the beige,"How Tomorrow Moves" scheme with boxcar logo. I thought if enough CSX modelers were to come together,we might be able to get our own run going at Atlas, but I know there's more than just us 2 out here.

MTH has MP15s & also SD40-2s. The MP15s are in the YN2 scheme, while the SD40-2s are in the YN3 scheme with the boxcar logo. To find an online hobby store that carries them, you can use the MTH Product Locater or go to ebay. If you never used the Product Locator, just type in MTH Product Locator in your address bar & it'll bring it up,or just type in the type product your looking for in the address bar.

Would you like to see any Family Lines or Seaboard System 4750s done?

Thanks, for the contact& will be in touch. Got to mow yard today.

Definitely switcher trucks.  All gears enclosed, drive shaft exiting horizontally out the side of the tower.  However, the response to the question says they are for an sw8/9. Be aware that if this is accurate, the trucks cannot be used to convert an mp15 of any type or any other model utilizing Blomberg trucks.  The wheelbase is only 8'-0" on the switcher trucks as compared to 9'-0" for the Blomberg trucks.  While the the trucks would most likely fit, the correct sideframes could not be mounted to them.

Also note that the mounting arrangement is different than on two-motor drive designs common to O scale.

I mainly model (maybe at this point collect) modern era CSXT, here are a few different 2 rail locomotives in action.  I have too many most sit on a wall of shelves.  I usually run one train of three CSXT diesels and modern era freight as NYSME in Carlstadt, NJ.  Let me know how your search goes.  I may be interested as well.

MTH CSX CW44AC 561 and SD70ACe 4839

MTH CW40-8 CSX Bright Future

MTH ES44DC's

I like all your diesels, fantastic collection.

Am specifically looking right now for road diesels that are used mostly for yard work & local freights like the GP15 in your pic. There were 2 numbers done-1560&1542. You have 1542, would be glad to take it of your hands depending on price.

Great trackwork! Did you lay your own?

Thank you very much,

Don,I agree! Did you get a word of encouragement from Atlas that they,(the Trinity hoppers),are in the works?

Did you get the photos I sent?

Atlas announced a new run of Trinity 5161 hoppers in the July-December catalog, and the CSX "How Tomorrow Moves" scheme was part of that announcement.

John,

Thank you-GREAT news!! Got to get mine ordered. Atlas is indeed listening.

Thank you for giving me the word. Any suggestions on a hobby shop to get advance reservations into?

 Thanks again,

Bear in mind the Trinity 5161 hoppers are a November announcement with I believe a 3 QTR 2016 EST delivery date if sufficiently reserved list 114.95, street 100.00+/-, just saying!

Hi

It took a little to get used to the $115 list for these, but I have already preordered four CSX ones and will probably reserve at least four more and just change some numbers.  I can still do it at 15-20% off preorders.  That puts it at around $92 a car.  If you look at trinities on eBay I just watched some NAHX ones just go for $100.00 each.  So $92 seems reasonable, if not at least in the ball park.

They are extremely detailed cars and are totally awesome!   I hate to say it, but for me, they are well worth the money.

I have looked at HO in the past and some cars in HO are near $40 a car now.  Yikes!!!

John,

Thank you for the info.,I just put my order in for 12 CSX5161s with Deichman's Depot. No disrespect to any other hobby shops but he was the lowest at $91.95 & great to deal with. Atlas has got to get out of China & get production in non-union states at home here in the good Ol' USA. Prices are high in every scale as mentioned. Everyone is in the same boat.

We definitely need a modern centerbeam & an ACF hopper, plus some sand hoppers. The 25,500 tankers are awesome too,I've accumulated 15 so far.

For those that are interested, work has to be done on them yet, plus some redrawing & further work, but shelf couplers are on the way. Too much work yet to do on them for any estimated delivery dates. They'll be a full function coupler like the Protocraft model only with modern safety shelfs. A good friend is working on them, bless his heart.

Thank you,

Al Hummel
