I’ve been wanting some of the 53’ husky stack cars, and decided to custom build some to accommodate some of the Atlas O 53’ containers. Here are some pics. The car began as a 48’ MTH husky stack, which I cut and spliced in a section to bring the total length to 53’. Definitely one of my favorite creations. I also had decals made for the car, in the new TTX logo, along with some XPO Logistics decals. The first pic is after the splice, and glued together. I also fabricated the hand rails using bronze wire, and added the correct brake cylinder and brake lines from brass.

That's so cool!
Great job, Jeff...you are a truly talented! That car looks great!!
Maybe, you are the new MTH...one car at a time.
Did you have to lower the MTH car ?
Jeff, that is really nice work, thanks for sharing.
Have a safe and Happy New Year
Incredible work. That'll never make through my Lionel turnouts!
Thanks everyone!!
Clem, in response to your question, I used Atlas O trucks to lower the car. Truly makes a huge difference in ride height. Adding Kadee 740 couplers makes it all a cool look.
Great job. So, am I to understand that "No [other] MTH Husky Stack cars were harmed in the creation of this model" or was there a donor car involved?
Hi Matt!! I did have to use a donor car. However, based on the pieces needed, you can get 4 pieces from one donor car, to add to the other 4 cars that you cut, and lengthen with the parts from the donor car.

Thanks. Very clean splice.
Jeff,
Great work, as always. That’s a very cool car. Ditto the XPO container.
Happy New Year.

Jeff...who made the decals for you?
Happy New Year!! Hope all is well with you and yours!!
Larry, I use Circus City Decals for everything. Outstanding decals and highest quality I’ve ever found.
Jeff
Were the pieces just glued together or did you need some sort of mating plate to strengthen the body? Just curious as the stress from the weight of a good size consist would have on the car. Really nice work.
Steve, the CA glue I use is super strong and holds the pieces very well. I did add a brass plate strip on the bottom for added reinforcement. Other than that, the seam will be permanent with no issues at all.

Jeff is there a minimum quantity for the decals? I looked into custom decals but most outfits require a set up charge and a minimum of 100+ sets
