This will be the dumbest question of the day. I have Lionel locomotives - nothing from MTH. Will a Lionel CW-80 transformer run a MTH Modern locomotive with proto sound 3? I set up a seasonal layout and I'm thinking about getting this MTH locomotive before its possibly gone. Thank you Greg

I'd do a little more research Greg. I know from experience that a CW 80 can be problematic with PS2 , not sure about PS3.
In the past MTH had a list of "recommended transformers " in the owners manuals of their locomotives. It was NOT on the list of the PS2 locos that I owned.
The CW80 is an odd duck.
Well it did work for my Railking ProtoSound 1 General and Torpedo. But I can't exactly remember if it worked on my ProtoSound 2 steam turbine locomotive.
The CW-80 works just fine with my PS2 and PS3 engines.
