Brand and amp load recommendation for resettable circuit breakers for redundant use with Z-1000 and Z-4000. Thanks.

I don't think you can beat the ones in this thread, extremely fast, several options, one is an alarm, auto or remote reset, and adjustable current settings. Some think they are a bit pricey though, but they are really not when compared to having an electronic engine repaired after cooking the boards.
Demo of the PSX short circuit protection
They are made by DCC Specialties. I got mine from Tony's Train Exchange, they also have a terminal kit for them for adding screw terminals. I think someone said Charles Ro has them now also.
Tom, a good rule of thumb is to use the minimum size that will run the number of trains you run on a circuit, and whether you turn on smoke units. Do not use more than 10 amps.
I use Blue Sea Systems Push button reset only circuit breakers from Defender Marine (www.defender.com), at under $6 each. They come in a variety of ratings (including 5, 7, 10) and with either push-on or screw connectors. Don't be thrown by the 32 VDC rating. They work fine on AC. I use 5 amps on circuits where I run no more than 2 trains, and 7 on the ones where I run 3. These are on the low side, but I want to protect internal rolling stock wiring.
I'm reading the online install instructions for the PSX and it states you should use 12 gauge wire. Is that what you guys are using? I have one large loop of track and control my trains with TMCC.

I am using the OGR wire from the OGR store, so it will be mostly #14 and #16. Starting with a 6'x16' layout with 2 main loops. Separate PH-180 for each loop. The PSX's will feed an MTH terminal strip for distribution to the tracks. I may use #12 from the PH-180 to the PSX and then to the terminal strip, but I really think the #14 will be just fine in my situation.
I don't know about PSX, but I use 14-gauge wire for my track block feeds.
I've seen the PSX. Does it impede the DCS or DCC track signal?
