No, but a 4-pack of AA batteries will power up the remote quite nicely.

It is AAA. I know because I took a quick glance at the box, and since my grandson had used all my batteries, I picked up a pack of AA at the grocery store. Opened the remote........................Crap............ Back to the store for AAA's.

I recommend the purchase of two sets of AAA Rechargables with rechargers for your hand held DCS remote control, keep them plugged in at your transformer station, replace in DCS hand held remote as needed. IMO MTH needs a rechargable hand held remote that can sit in the recharge station at night.
