I did have my gantry crane connected to the TMCC base and that plugged into my Legacy base. While I had my DSC connected to my Legacy base, I found that I did not like to use DCS to control a Legacy engine. On my earlier layout I had up to 3 DCS trains followed by a Legacy train on the same loop. I was not able to use the DCS "ALL" command because it would place the Legacy engine into the inactive area. By the time I got it back to the active area and started, the lead DCS train would run into the stopped or starting Legacy train. As a result I use the Legacy controller to control my legacy engines, the TMCC controller to operate my ERR converted MTH operating cars, and my DCS controller to operate my DCS engines. Additionally I really like the display of the Legacy speed steps that permits me to easily run multiple trains on the same loop with both command systems. While my Big Boy, FEF 3 and EM1 run at speed step 51 for 15 smph displayed on the DCS controller, the Hesler runs at 27 speed steps to run at 15 smph, and my R 27, and my Genset run at different speeds for the same DCS smph. It is just easier to control train speed using the Legacy controller than the relative speed steps I had with the DCS controller for the Legacy trains.
