I have been wanting to run my PS1 engines with my variable outputs and the DCS remote. Will the PSA button on the remote activate the sounds, or would I need to activate using the horn and bell buttons, in the standard coventional mode?
What I do running my PS-1 engines from the variable output is hold the bell button down while the engine is in motion. While the bell is sounding you'll hear an air let off sound then you are in PSA mode. When you get the train where you want to stop it hit the direction button on your remote and the engine will stop and go into it's first sound sequence. Press the direction button through it's sound sequences and the engine will start by itself with the bell sounding. When the bell stops sounding you have full control of the engine again. The PSA button I believe will only work for PS-2/3 engines.
One other note is when you start the engine and apply track power hit the PS1 button on the soft key. That will start the voltage at around 8 volts. Wait until you hear an air let off and one 'clink' then hit the direction button on the remote and add voltage as you need it. Hope this helps.
