I am running my layout with buss wiring and don’t care about the signal strength the engines run fine. In just a few areas I get this annoying message on the remote. Is there a way to turn this message off?

I have the DCS O Gauge companion, great book, but I could not find how to turn this off, it’s a large book and, I might have just missed it. It has everything from launching the space shuttle to setting your microwave to your DCS but I just want to turn off this annoying message.

Thanks in advance

Nelson,

Although you cannot turn off error messages per se, what you can do is invoke "Speed Mode"in the DCS Remote. This is discussed in The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition, on the bottom of page 43 and the top of page 44.

Speed Mode turns off the remote's ability to "hear" responses from the TIU, including error conditions that generate error messages. Error conditions may still occur, however, there won't be any complaints about it from the remote.

This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!

My problem was the engines were never running on autopilot they would respond fine to commands sent. I have one 6 ft. section between two gargraves switches that would always send the Check Track message back. But the engines always responded to commands sent in this section. I did a lot of rework to this section to try to get this message to go away, changed track, insulated the section with new drop, the only one I didn't do was the light bulb.

Found the speed mode setting and it works great all engines respond much faster now to changes sent to them.

Barry this sentence should be added to your next update under the speed mode setting:

It will work just like TMCC and Legacy.

If a problem arises I can always turn it back to Normal for testing.

Thank you Barry for now you have made it much more fun to run the trains.

That's correct. It will work just like TMCC and Legacy.

Not quite, when TMCC loses the signal, they normally stop.  Which is kind of a PITA when they stop at a really difficult place to reach!

Ah, a demonstration of the 2nd Law of ProgrammingNever test for an error condition you can't handle.

Love it!
