Just reading the write up in the 2017 RTR catalog about the upcoming DCS explorer:

It appears to be a limited version offering a good taste of DCS control but not the full features.  It seems to cover all the basics for the new operator to start experiencing DCS and would be a great improvement over the DCS remote commander.  Somewhere I think I read in previous posts that it would control three different proto 2 or 3 locomotives but nothing about that in the write-up.  Perhaps Barry can enlighten us.

Im also very interested in this product and hope it will be my cue to move from conventional to a modern/digital control system.

Im hoping someone can produce a comparison - or describe the limitations vs a full blast DCS system.

Somebody mentioned in another thread that the DCS Explorer would have its own app - separate from the current offering?

Somehow I suspect that will not be the case - and it will be the same free version app DCS users use - just doesn't make sense that they would want to maintain another piece of software.
