Press the PW soft key and then use the thumbwheel to play the whistle.
I am not sure if all PS-3 engines have it, was it confined to Premier sound files only? If you have the PW soft key do as Barry states. Just roll the thumbwheel, if you press it, it toggles between whistle control and speed control. Pressing PW soft key so it is no longer highlighted turns QW off. G
GGG,
You're correct. At present, only Premier steamers come with a playable whistle.
Regardless, a chain file and sound file (both are required) from a Premier steamer can be loaded into a Rail King steamer to get a playable whistle. However, there could be negative consequences, e.g., speed being off, etc.
Ken,
DCS 3.x does not support the playable whistle feature. You must be running at least (I believe) DCS 4.10 or newer to se the PW soft key.
Ken,
In order to upgrade your DCS on a Mac, your Mac must be Intel-based. Any of the one-piece, flat screen iMacs should do.
Then, install either Apple's Boot Camp PC emulator or a 3rd party PC emulator (I use Parallels), and then install a copy of Windows for the emulator to use.
If that's a bit too much, see if a local hobby shop or a close-by forum member can do it for you.
Worst case, if you ship me your DCS and pay for return shipping, I'd be willing to do the upgrade for you.
Any chance that you live in Florida?
