At the end of the year I had to replace the computer board on my 2-8-8-2.  Replaced by a MTH Tech. I have noticed it does not have the 1mph start anymore.  It's starts with jerks up to 3-4 scale mph when using DCS.  I could be mistaken, but in the past in conventional mode I thought, I use to ease up the throttle and it chuffed up at a very slow speed.  When I went to DCS, it had shown to start at 1mph.  Whats up?

I'm assuming there were no mechanical issues that caused the board change...and presumably you confirmed the new boards were loaded with the correct soundset for the engine.

A couple things to try that you can do without taking off the shell.

When the engine gets up to a somewhat smooth speed at 3-4 MPH or whatever, are you getting exactly 4 chuffs per wheel revolution (assuming it's set to 4/rev)?

If convenient, can you run in conventional and turn OFF speed control (W-B-B followed by a double-toot acknowledgement)?  Then slowly increase the throttle and see if the slow speed behavior is jerky.  Also, in conventional with speed control OFF or ON, you should get exactly 4 chuffs per wheel rev.
