DCS TIU tvs shorted out..example of operator error

Your Lucky Day Willy. It's so easy to mix up wires, especially if you worked all day, had a big supper, then start playing around with wires.

Your so right..all wires clearly tagged now...this TIU has been rock solid..thought i was going to loose it...

I wish there was an indication of when the TVS have failed. Are we supposed to check them??

the first thing I would check if there was a short would be the tvs diode!

The dead short (open from physical damage) is the only failure that is detectable.

I just decided to replace them once a year or if the were any big electrical events near the house, like a lightning strike.

Interesting why these shorted instead of opened...making believe i am a trillion billion electrons..where did i go between the 2 and 3 rail(which are independent of each other when connected correctly) to cause this tvs slaughter

It would be nice if the TVS's plugged in like the fuses to make it easier to replace them. A trap door for access would be nice too. I know "keep dreaming Dave".

There are sockets to accecpt component legs.

Appliacation right on terminals is close.
