Chief,
Will mth be issuing a new update anytime soon to dcs to resolve unit consist issues in super mode like 4.20 maybe?
It's being worked on (slowly) with no schedule for release as of yet.
The schedule was the end of last year when they spoke at the DCS Users group meeting
Ben,
Unfortunately, that's old news.
Barry thanks for the update I like ben thought it would be out soon.
My plan was to start with Legacy and then add DCS. My Legacy unit arrived so my DCS is not far behind. I can assure you it will be shortly after my purchase of a DCS system! I am willing to take one for the team on this!
Ed, If they're talking of a software upgrade, as it appears they are, that can always be uploaded into a TIU & remote, even the very first units released over 10 years ago.
A little bit of clarification may be in order.
Any new DCS (hardware and software to run on it) is at least a year away. Further, there's no guarantee that the new software will be able to be installed on the old hardware.
There is, however, a bug fix release for the current DCS that is being worked on and, I believe, will be here somewhat sooner.
Barry,
What is the current bug issue a fix is being developed for?
Bill
All, or at least most, of the outstanding bugs in DCS. There are about a dozen or less altogether.
Is it not about time they ( MTH ) do a complete re-design of the DCS platform? It seems that when you keep adding fixes and new items to the old platform, it becomes non-productive.
They have to do what Lionel did, take the best from TMCC and dump the rest. Legacy is a vast improvement from TMCC and DCS has to thru the same changes.

While I am sure there are many that are looking forward to a newer hardware/software package, I do think that it would be good if the new software was backward compatible with the older units. I realize it may not be, but it would add to the value of the older versions. The ability to upgrade the new versions of software into the previous hardware devices was a plus for MTH.
As with anything though, things do change and they do move forward. And I might be alone in my desire for this to happen as I wrote above. Do not interpret this as a "shoot the messenger post."

If the new software can do things that the old hardware can't handle, that's one thing. But if the new software can be loaded onto the old hardware and just be able to access all the new features, that would be acceptable.
Sort of like adding Windows 8 to an old computer. The computer will still work, but it won't have touch screen capability
No one has said that loading Windows 8 is an upgrade!
Microsoft deems that it is.
Microsoft deems that it is.
And you believe them? Amazing...

That's a good one!!!
Would Microsoft fib?
