I have a new TIU with the USB port and I am trying to get ready for the 5.0 upgrade. Just to clarify I need:

-a mini USB to regular USB cable?

-a phone cable with 4 wires

 - a stereo 3.5mm mini phone cable

Any suggestions where you can get these items with 1 stop shopping?

Any suggestions for the cheapest laptop that can run the DCS loader program? I will only use it for DCS upgrades since I am a Mac guy.

Yeah, but they haven't changed much. I used to be a diehard Windows guy until Vista, then I had to get a new computer and ought a Mac instead of vista and I couldn't be happier. I don't have all the options I had with Windows but I don't really need em. Everything I need to do my Apple products do extremely well

It isn't so ancient...

Parallels (which you recommended) continues to be updated and has significant advantages over the use of "Boot Camp". Both run Windows "natively", but Parallels allows you to switch between the Windows and MacOS environments "on the fly" whereas Boot Camp requires a reboot of the Mac to switch environments. Both require purchase of a copy of Windows, but Parallels requires the additional purchase (of course) of Parallels whereas "Boot Camp" is free and already installed on the Mac.

If you are using a laptop then MTH recommends you purchase a KeySpan Tripp-Lite Model:USA-19HS USB Serial Adapter to connect from the laptop to the TIU. I got it on Amazon for around $20.00

This Keyspan adapter worked perfectly to upgrade my Legacy system, but I was never able to make this adapter cable work with MTH's DCS loader program. Fortunately I had a Rev L TIU and once I found the correct USB cable the DCS loader worked perfectly that way. This was with the current 2.34 version loader.

I was doing all this with an old Windows 7 PC that had a ton of stuff loaded on it and a ton of it removed over several years of use. Could have been a conflict with something and the DCS program? However, the Keyspan adapter worked just fine with the Legacy system from the same PC, so I was never really sure what was wrong.
