Sorry to start another thread, but my last one only netted one reply so I thought i'd better ask these questions on a new thread to hopefully drum up a few more answers.
I am dabbling in the glass of water that is the free version of the DCS WIFI app. I say glass of water because I liken this app to an ocean of opportunities that is contingent upon our willingness to pay for the cruise. Other than go forward and backward at varying speeds, blown the horn or whistle, ring the bell, and play the PFA sounds, the free version, or as I like to call it, the beta version, is a laundry list of "you must upgrade to do this" and whether or not the standard or premium version gets you that cabin.
Be that as it may, and since I will upgrade to premium so I can run my switches, I do have a question. I think my answer will be a resounding, 'get the premium version' but I wanted to ask anyway.
How do you deactivate an active engine without having to shut off the wifi? I saw no menu or ability to do this in the beta copy. You just have, in my case, two inactive engines that finally allow you to choose one of them or both of them, but once they are on the active list, there is no screen oriented way to deactivate one of them or both of them. The only way I could accomplish this was to turn off my phones wifi which immediately deactivated both engines at once. I then got out of the app, turned the wifi back on, got back into the app, and both engines were still on the inactive list, but the one listed first had a green check mark next to it. I tapped it, and up it went to the active list. But once it's there, it's there. My dedicated remote, as you know, allows me to F1 and it moves the engine to the inactive list. I tried selecting ALL, but that was a Standard app feature, or maybe it was a premium. In any case, my next question within a question, does upgrading to premium suddenly afford me the option of deactivating engines individually since now I have access to a feature that affects all active engines?
I also discovered something I didn't like very much. If you access the active/inactive screen, pressing the engine icon at the bottom of the screen doesn't return you to the home screen. This app needs a home screen button. Having to slide left once or twice to return to the screen with the main dashboard is old school tactics what with all the new knowledge we have of operating technical devices these days. Adding a simple Home screen or dashboard selection wouldn't be such a monumental task.
