I'm having difficulty creating a lash up between 2 PS3 Diesels; both <3 years old.  Setup is a simple loop of Atlas track w/0-45 curves, TIU & WiFi unit.  I have tried both my iPhone 8 Plus and my old iPhone SE which I use as a throttle.  I have the same issues with both.  When I place both engines on the track at the same time...there seem to be communication issues...not responding to commands; I press & release the horn and it doesn't stop, etc.  Both locos run perfectly by themselves when they are the only one on the track.  After cutting power & starting over a few times...both appeared to be responding separately so I went in to build the lash-up...but as soon as I hit the done button, I get a 'connection failed' error and the lash up is not created.  Also, track just recently cleaned.  Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Hello Joe,

Power comes from a Z-1000 brick; nothing else on track; yes O scale; TIU is running 5.0; using premium version of app; WIU has never been upgraded since I purchased it [back when they first came out] so I will definitely have my LHS do the upgrades on both ASAP. Here is a screenshot of the message I receive when trying to build the lash up.

Hello All,

I now have the latest software in both my remote and TIU; my LHS is working on my WIU.  I have tried to create the same lash up with remote and TIU and am still having similar problems.  This time I was able to create the lash up and the units appeared to operate correctly, however the lead unit would not play its sound and instead made a steady, high pitched squealing noise.  Again, these are two PS3 diesels, both <3 years old; the one making the squealing noise being a brand new AC6000 I just purchased weeks ago.  both run perfect when they are alone on the track with a train, no connectivity issues.  It is seeming like a more general connectivity issue as now when I place them on the same track at the same time, one or both start up when power is applied rather than taking commands from the remote.  When I press the read key the remote sees the TIU but neither of the locos.

Apologies for writing a book, but any ideas??? Thx in advance!

I believe that because of it's age, there were sound sets back then that produced that squeeling noise and need to be replaced. A reset may help but I remember having to swap out an older sound set.

You're not having a fun time are you? It will get better!

We just had a violent storm roll thru and we got lucky. There's a tornado alert just to the south. So remember, it always can be worse!!

Joe,

Very true it could always be worse!  I don't let it ruin my day. They're just trains.  Stay safe where you are!

By age are you referring to late 17/early 18? I believe that's when the 6000 was made (the newest one) and it's the one squealing.  The other is NS SD70ACe #1030 made in 15 I believe. Both powered on before receiving commands, though the ACe does it the most often. The 6000 has never squealed in any other situation.

I have to be honest and thought you were speaking about a little older AC6000. There were some buggy soundsets just a few years back (2?) that I ran into. I had one get locked into reverse when it was put into a DCS lash-up. I believe the software triggered that. DCS 5.x version.

I don't have that many PS3 engines to define what's happening here. I haven't had any that only appear when in a lash-up.

The sound does definitely come from the speaker? Yet it only happens in a lash-up?

Very interesting and maybe MTH will see this and comment. A bad soundset has always shown up in all modes for me. I'm not sure what's triggering it here. I don't think it has to do with the app or other DCS software but I can't guaranty it. I have seen engines do this when certain features are triggered like playing the PFA sequence for example. Only certain sounds are acting up when alone or consisted.

You could go thru all the (softkey) sounds and see if there's just certain ones squealing. It won't help but it is interesting to know more.
