Hello everybody,

I recently ordered a DCS wifi module to add to my TIU to run my mth trains with my tablet.  My question is about the App.  Apparently there is three versions.  I realize the free version has limited capabilities which leaves the standard ($4.99) and the Premium ($24.99)  what are the differences between the two?  $20.00 seems like a big jump between them, so I am wondering what extras I get with the premium version that I do not get with the standard version?

One time charge.

Here's what MTH has to say:

  • The FREE version provides users with control of 3 locomotives and limited features and works with the DCS WIU WiFi Module or the DCS Explorer.
  • The $4.99 STANDARD version provides users with full Proto-Sound 2.0 and 3.0 locomotive control when using the DCS WIU WiFi Module.
  • The $24.99 PREMIUM version provides the user with full DCS control and more when using the DCS WIU WiFi Module.

So you need the premium version to control more than just locomotives, such as a AIU and other DCS functions.

For those of us who are completely ignorant on the matter, are those monthly, annual, or one time charges?

It's a one time charge provided you don't change operating systems.  If you have an Apple device, once you buy it it's available to all Apple devices linked to that iTunes account.  Not sure how Android handles this but I suspect it's pretty much the same.

Only need the Premium version if you want to control other things besides engines (AIU's, Switches, etc.).   If you don't use that stuff the standard gets you everything for engine control.

To second what Marty said,  Mine is on my 3rd IPhone and it transferred seamlessly each time.
