I built up this Stone Mill Models Sheridan Mercantile to represent a small industrial repair shop to support local industry in Northbrook. It still needs more detailing but I needed the basic shell built up so I can use it to help lay out the streets for this spot.

Here is an overview of how the sidings are set up, I think this is how I will leave them.

The layouts looking really good Norm. Good looking building and you are the concrete master as far as coloring and weathering.

Stone Mills Models were crafted a couple of towns over from me and my local shop carried them. Built a few of their kits and they were well detailed with thick resin walls and reasonably priced for a craftsman kit. They were around for a short time and then just seemed to fall off the map. My local shop closed as well. These craftsman kits I believe are truly a labor of love for the manufactures. Add up all their time and what they sell for there's probably not a huge profit in them.

Thanks a lot you guys!

Dave, Stone Mill still shows up on eBay under the username treefactory. He just had this listed again this week and last I looked he had the Chama oil house kit too. I check his items once in a while as he sort of randomly puts things up. I'd like to get his stone mill kit eventually.

I am using Rustoleum Camo Khaki spray paint for the cement color. I swear this used to be sold under Krylon, right? I wash it over with black and brown acrylics, then use a bit of white for drybrushing.

Mike, I have a few motor castings already but I may get those Crowe ones too. Those are nice - thanks for the link! Maybe this shop could also rebuild pumps, gearboxes, and balance some flywheels so I can have an excuse to get more detail parts eventually.

I also got a chance to make some brass gutters again. I painted them up with a copper wash. Here's a progress shot:

Trainman, thanks, I believe it's just K&S C channel with a couple different rod sizes for the hangers and drainpipe. I fold and solder the C channel ends to form the gutters. I have a shoebox of brass parts that I have been collecting over the years from shops that have K&S displays.

Here's some I did a long time ago:

I'd like his stone mill and if I saw the smoke shop I'd probably snag it for my collection too. He made an awesome New England/northeast style factory wall at one time, I think he called it the Atlas Warehouse. I would love to find one or two of those. I've learned only lately to snag a kit if I like it, whether I plan on using it now or sometime down the road. I really like giving money to these guys.
