Here are some pictures. The wreaths around the headlights are from Michael's hobby store.
The metallic pipe cleaners can be bought at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or craft stores.

The pictures on the tenders, and candy canes on the Pacific are printed on photo paper or good quality paper, then I use a marker to change the visible white edges after cutting to black. I then use Elmer's Craftbond repositionable glue sticks and put the glue on the paper, to put them on the tenders. Haven't had any residue left behind yet, but it is made to be washable with a mild cleaner. Have had a couple fall of, but a little more glue and some hard pressure made them stay on. I got the images from picture searches on Google.

I use a cold glue gun to mount the wreaths. They come off w/o leaving any residue behind or damaging the paint.PacificPacific Tendermountain1mountain2Mike1mike2

We usually put a slew of elves and reindeer into a few gondolas and run the consist at breakneck speed to watch them spill out on the curves....lol. Actual bets are placed on which elf spins out of the gondolas...wherever they fall seems to self decorate my layout.

Or the trespassing unlucky elves and reindeer that are caught on the track when the Express comes barrelling along. These scenarios occur just after special eggnog is consumed...

One could do to a plastic diesel shell what I did for this boxcar:100_1093

Looks great! I have similar plans for a lighted caboose. This is inspiring me to get it done this year. Found a mini power supply on ebay that will output a constant DC voltage with a variable AC voltage as long as you're a couple volts above what you need for an output. Output is adjustable. I figure that would work great on a DCS controlled train since you use constant voltage.
