Hello WB Trainman     I was looking for trucks that fell into my layout time frame of the late forties early fifties.  That's why I purchased the 1949 Pete and 1950 KW tractors, the only ones I could find in those years. They were offered with different trailer combinations. The fifth wheel is removed with the mounting screws and I attached the dump. I made the dump from a sheet of black styrene which is easily cut with a saw or scribed and snapped and file finished. I used Plastruct Bondene  plastic solvent cement to "weld" the pieces together. I bought the trucks some time ago for around $15 each.  I did a little quick research and I located the New Ray 1949 Pete380 at two locations.  3000TOYS.COM item16213 for$16.99.  There is a  double dump KW900 similar to the one posted above also listed as 1/43 scale for $18.99.  Ebay list the KW900 for $13.99 . The Pete also listed. If the truck year is not important the KW900 seems the way to go. There are numerous other 1/43 scale tractor/trailer combos for sale at reasonable prices you could also custom make to your likes. Hope this helped.  See Ya!

No, 1/32nd is way too big for O scale...some argue that 1/43rd is, but we are stuck with it...in 1/43rd  I have used SpecCast White and International (these were post WWII models but I determined they had been carried forward from 1940) , and these were available with dump bodies.  I built dump bodies for 1937 Matchbox International, and for Matchbox Bulldog Mack. I have coal mines and retail coal silos, so I need coal dump trucks.

I purchased the USS Chevy COE it was advertised as 1:43 but it is a 1:50 scale truck. I choose to like the 1:43 scale. As a reference my Joe Conway Figure is 6' tall or 1-1/2". as you can see he is just as tall as the 1:50 version of the truck. Up next to the 1:43 scale ERTL Joe is a perfect fit. Certainly these two can be mixed and matched on a layout given the scale items next them. I am working on my prototype coal bed for the 30 chevy and the late 40's 1950 Chevy COE.
