I’ve got a new night light. I like the dimmed headlight as shown, but quickly fried a 24 vac transformer that I had laying around. I’ve looked at 120 volt floodlight bulbs, but they’re too small to fit the opening. There’s nothing on the bulbs for voltage or watts. I’ve tried google, but can’t find anything. Could these be DC? The headlights look similar to a motorcycle headlight bulb. I’ve also got a Conrail GP9 headlight that I’d like to power. I just don’t know what I need. Any ideas on how I could power these?

Well, the Standard for diesel-electric locomotive lighting is indeed 72/74 volts DC, EXCEPT for the headlight bulbs! Headlight bulbs were/are 32 volt DC, as the low voltage control power goes through a BIG dropping resistor for the headlight bulbs.
