I have got 2 Williams SD-90, running off a PW- V-150w, Ok, run these at 7-8v, and they are great, smooth, will run forever. Now , I bought , MTH, z-750, just to run MTH, BLUE COMET, 4-6-2, cause did not have any more room , on other compatible transformers.  Run it in the 2nd orange level, 2nd mark, does fine: passenger cars light good, and the PW, Crossing signal does great.  I wanted to put the Williams SD-90, on the track where BLue Comet, runs,  and in doing so it runs like a scalded dog , at the same power location of the Comet: so I have to back it down, and then lights in cars are not bright, and PW Crossing sig, barely lights up.  ALSO,it  does the slow down routine, I have read about, exactly 1/2 way around., and I do not have any other power connections on the other side of track.  Do these heavy --- Williams SD-90, draw that much difference, and does the difference in wattage of Transformers, cause this.  Do I need to put another trac lockon, on other side of track,!??  ALL Conventional

All Williams diesel engines are known to be speed demons.

There is a big difference in technology between the type V and the Z750.

I'm not sure why the SD90 ran better with the V. I guess you found a "sweet-spot" with the V that the 750 does not have.

There some things you can do to slow down the SD90 but that would require you to remove the shell and re-wire the motors.

And yes, it wouldn't hurt to add an additional lock-on.

I also recommend getting a cheap digital voltmeter so you can get an accurate voltage reading while the trains are running and compare the two transformers.

thanks,  I put the Williams, back:  2 loco lash up,  back to forever smooth,

on the 072 , track, and when time permits (soon) , will run #2 lockon over

at the other side, track, for sure I dont wont to open something up, I am no

mechanic>>  anyway , If Williams next level ( would like to have smoke),

are as efficient , well, could be another purchase!

thanks
