Hello everyone,
I'm not sure if anyone has done this before, I will share this with you anyway. In the past when upgrading an engine from two chuffs to four, I would normally install two magnet's on either the tender wheels or the trailing truck wheels, I've also installed them on the back of the drive wheels, but I would have to file the magnet's down, So they wouldn't hit the chassis.
Now what I do as you will see in the photo's below is, install four magnet's on the drive wheel at 12, 3, 6, and 9 O'clock. The only difference is I install the magnet's on there side just below the drive wheel flange, they fit perfect and they don't protrude out
at all. I find this to be a much better way of do this for two reason's, first is i don't have to go crazy and try to make the magnet's stand up between the drive wheel spokes. Second is I don't have to worry about the magnet's getting knocked off if the were installed on the back face of the drive wheel. I'm doing it this way for a while now with perfect results.
Thanks for looking,
Alex
