I bought an MTH MKE DL-110 unit (PS-1) thinking I could just remove both motors to make a dummy to pull behind a PS-2 DL-109 CNW. When the motor is removed the trucks are no longer attached to the frame. Is there a way to make this a dummy by somehow affixing the trucks to the frame without the motors?

Joe, I have converted several Proto one and Proto two engines to dummies. If yours is like most MTH diesels, there is a die-cast adapter attached to the motor that is removed using 2 screws. If you take the adapter off the motor and then attach the trucks to the adapter, it will hold the trucks in place and wheels will freewheel. I usually leave the light circuits in place so the unit has it's lights.

Also, if you can pull the pinion gear that connects and drives the 2 wheels off so they are independent rollers, it will also help remove friction. G
