Never heard of such a thing Wally. What's the purpose of your inquirey? Are you looking to buy a Railking GG1 and want learn more about it? Are you perhaps referring to the DCS Remote Commander?
Not my term Dave. This is how it is listed on eBay. It seems a few people are selling stuff they know little about. I can only imagine that it might be DCS(?). Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing a different name of some technology. Thanks.
Wally
That is the basic DCS system that comes w/Railking sets. I got one for my grandson and could not get the thing to operate right ended up opening the track/power box and from the factory it was wired backwards!!! Fixed it all is well , so much for quality control eh?
Wally,
The engine you are referring to doesn't state what the upgrade is. Could be TMCC or DCS and the remote operation can not be guaranteed. Also the couplers don't appear to be the remote type to work with command.
Could be an DC Delux TMCC upgrade from Digital Dynamics???
Thanks for the link Joe.
It looks like this is one of the original MTH Railking GG1's from 1996 with a DCRU board. The seller gives the item number as "RK-2500." Originally MTH started Railking part numbers with "RK" and Premier part numbers with "MT." That practice was quickly changed to the "30-" and "20-" we see today. With these early items you can see their listing on the MTH website by searching for the item number with letters replaced by the appropriate numbers. The item in question is listed as 30-2500.
Obviously the seller isn't the original owner and isn't quite sure what he has. However, he states that he has the installation instructions for the "upgrade." If you're interested, I would ask him to post a photo of the instructions. That should help indicate what has been done to the engine.
It's quite possible it's only a sound upgrade as the engine was originally horn only.
