Bill...another wonderful model for your layout!!!

Alan...as I look at the models you are building I am just blown away. You are no doubt a fantastic craftsman with the kind of imagination and attention to detail to build museum quality structures. I have slowly been working on my power plant complex but it looks like this one will be finished before mine and of course already looks 1000 percent better mine!! Big Grin

Thanks,
Alan

The Power Plant Complex (PPC) will be placed between a silo complex and a Coal Mine. The Coal Mine will have 3 loading tracks and a Coal conveyor running from the mine across the top of the loading shed and then up to the PPC witch is mounted about 18" above the Coal mine as is shown on the drawing.

Chip,
That is the coal shed. The coal will be piled behind the building and a conveyor will take it into the plant. I am constructing a caol minimg plant to the right of the power plant for Bill and he asked me to bring another conveyor over to the power plant. That conveyor will dump coal right behind that building. There will aslo be three oil storage tanks constructed that will sit in front of the plant at an elevation of about six inches below the base. That will simulate a dual fuel capability for power generation.

LocoKelvin, Alan Graziano has done a very nice job for us on the Power Plant Complex. Thank you.

Southernrr, Thanks Gene for the nice words. Alan finished up the lights and sat the Complex up similar to how it will be on the layout. Our DME Coal Complex will intergrate into the complex with the Mibe and Load out facility down on the level of the Fuel Tank Support Platform Legs.

The Coal Porters will pass under the Fuel Tanks going and coming to the DME Mine. A Coal conveyor will run from the Mine to the Power Plant Complex. Up at the Power Plant Complex main level will be a small Power Complex for the DME Mine with it's own supporting Fuel Complex.

Lee145 Thank you!
Johnny, Thank you!!!!
Alan qas busy putting some finishing touches on the complex. He is working on a retaining wall that will go between the fuel oil tank suppot and the benchwork that the Power Plant sits on.

I will ask Alan when he gets time to take some low light pictures for us. Thanks again for your intrest.
Johnny, Yes it is starting to come together. We are still working along a wall about 16 feet long. The Coal Mine will sit to the right of the Power Plant and will have a conveyor to feed direct to the power plant.
On the left of the Power Planr Complex we will have a Grain Mill and Storage Complex.

Thanks Johnny for your comments.

I like the attention to detail that you've put into these and have enjoyed looking at all the photos.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to document the construction and share it with us.

Ray Thank you for all the kind words. Alan Graziano of the form is actually building these items for me and he does give GREAT ATTENTION to detail. I have enjoyed all the projects he has completed for me and also the discussions about the work before it proceeds.
Ray you live in a VERY Pretty area of our state.Smile

Patrick H. Thank you for the kind remarks. Alan has really been hard at work on this area. The Power Plant complex is in the middle of 3 large projecys and Alan has the Power Plant Complex done. The DME Coal Mine sits just past the the Power Plant large office building. Alan has the retaining wall for the mine about done, The mine Load out building will hold about 12 hopper cars at a time.

On rhe opposited side of the Power Plant Complex is our Grain Milling and storage complex of 16 concrete silos and 4 metal large silos and two Grain Mills.

Popsrr, I think you did an exceptionally great job in capturing a large scale power plant. This note is directed to others who might be considering a smaller diesel plower plant. I have been working on components of a smaller plant that once provided power to the South Norwalk Ct town. The five diesel generators are still installed but the electrical distribution field is now powered by a larger area utility. What attracted me to the building was the array of water coolers on the roof of the building. Each generator, several were from old WW2 liberty ships, had its own water cooler. I have completed models of the water coolers and have a few available for sale on my web site www.westportmodelworks.com Look at the page 'model constructs' When I finish a couple of projects in the works I will begin to model one of the generators.
